Jez: Try google, both web and groups. Maybe someone there can help you.
Note: Give us some details about your computer. What version of windows? We have WinXP.
What brand computer and specs? We have a Compaq Presario 5245 bought new: AMD-K6-2,400 Mhz; upgraded to 256 memory; upgraded to WD 80 harddrive. mirse@aol.com

Jez: Floppy. As an experiment, can you copy a couple of the jpeg files to a floppy and try to open the files on a friend's or relative's computer? mirse@aol.com

jez: I did a quick research of google concerning your problem.
I ran across many messages about your problem. An example of one of the messages is ths:
"> Lately, when I try to open a jpeg file, Netscape opens instead and I
> get a message that the file path could not be found. What have I done
> and what should I do? Thanks in advance.
Open up a directory, go to "View --> Folder Options --> File Types",
find jpg file type, click "Edit", highlight "Open", click "Edit", click
"Browse", find application you want to open the jpg files with, click
"OK", click "OK", click "Set Default", click "OK".
So, I think it would be a good idea to go to google, both web and groups, and type in something like "jpeg file won't open." Good luck. Let us know what happens. mirse@aol.com

Jez: I think the person who wrote the original message from google above made a slight mistake in his directions.
He wrote above to go to "View-->Folder Options..."
What I think he meant to type was to go to "Tools-->Folder Options...", which one gets to by going to the top of the page.
For instance, let's say I couldn't open the file "me.jpeg."
First, I would open the directory where the file, "me.jpeg", was located.
I would go to the top of the screen and open up "Tools" and then go to the menu item "Folder Options".
I would then follow the directions on how to use "Folder Options" that I copied from the message in google.
Good luck. Let us know what happens. mirse@aol.com

Might be a version issue. In Win98se you can access the "Folder Options" from BOTH the "View" and "Tools" drop down menus.
In later versions of Windows I believe "Tools" is the place to look. When in doubt look under both. It should be lurking around in there somewhere.

It sounds like you have been hit by the LoveLetter Virus. Try this free ZefrJPG program to fix the problem:
The author provides the following description:
http://download.filerecovery.biz/
"Demand continues for this widely used tool, which recovers JPG images after they have been lost to a LoveLetter worm attack (or any other reason). Archive now includes an NTFS version along with the FAT version. Millions (by now perhaps billions) of files have been successfully recovered by ZefrJPG over the years."
By the way, in a shameless plug, my site lists about 150 freeware disk, corrupt file and password recovery programs. It is here:
