Firstly let me apologise if this thread has already been done but I couldn't find one and the search program kept returning an error.

Basically I have downloaded an iso program from Kazaa but when I try to open it I get the message "invalid format".
If I try to record the iso to disk I receive the message "not a valid cd image".
I don't believe the program is corrupt but was wondering if there was any help you could offer.

Thanks in advance..Yorky

If you are having problems with WINISO, try using ISOBUSTER, get it either from the web or Kazzar, a good url to get it from is.

good luck

Ive installed isobuster and tried touse it but im either doing something wrong or the initial download is duff.
I select the iso that I have downloaded and extract it to a folder but then when I click on the extracted file all it does is open it again in isobuster.
I have tried various options but I always seem to get the same result.
Sorry for being a thicky(but thats why I'm on the newbie section) but can anyone give me some more help?

cheers

Have you checked the iso files have the correct file extension ?

Sometimes with kazaa, iso files are changed to end in exe, to make them easier to download. E.G. FILENAME.ISO.EXE you need to remove the .EXE extension, just using the rename command, same as normal files.

What makes this trickier, is that windows is often set to ignore known file types. You need to change this in
TOOLS->FOLDER OPTIONS->VIEW
(dependant on windows version).
Disable the 'Hide known file types' option, ok it. Now you should see the .EXE extension, remove this.
Once your sure the file ends in .ISO then try opening the file in winiso, it should show the files inside and allow you to extract them (just like using winzip).

If you still cant open it, then maybe the iso file has been corrupted, sorry to say but this happens a lot.

But Try this first, if it doesnt work let us know..

Thanks Morace for your help.
sadly none of your suggestion worked.
When I open the iso using isobuster I can see the cd image on the left but im unsure what or how to extract it to make it work. The iso appears to have one track on it.
Ive tried extracting it as bin. and cue (whatever they are) but when I look at these images in a folder and click on them they just return me to isobuster.

What should happen using isobuster, is when you double click on the iso image track (left hand side) it should show you all the files held inside it on the right hand panel, does this happen ?

Think of an iso as similar to a zip file, where all the files are compressed into one single zip file. These then need to be uncompressed back into their normal state, before use

try going here for some better explained help:
http://www.force5web.com/articles/isofaq.htm
also explains the .bin and .cue extension

Have you tried using Winiso ?, i find this a better/easier program to use.

Wish i could be more help, but if this fails, then the iso is probablly corrupt or fake, a lot of them are unfortunately.
