cdr does not burn at max speed

Hi peeps iv'e just fitted a 48x speed cdr writer but it will only burn at 16x speed its a liteon and i have also tried an LG 48x speed but it does the same thing, now the funny part i all ready have a LG 24x speed and went for a speedy upgrade I hear you laugh now how many peeps out there that have upgraded and dont realise there speedy burner is only doing it at 16x speed O/S is xp. is it my mobo bios that needs upgrade.mucho help please.

what program are you using to burn cd's the control for speed is a setting in that program.

yeah hi ed i'm using nero the speed is set to 48 but it makes no difference i'v done a speed test and it says it can only be burnt at 16x and yes i'm using good 48x cdr's. any more help please
