Hi,
I'm new here and I'm very impressed with your website. Even added it to favorites. However I am running XP, are you planning on updating to offer info and help on this os? Should I use the advise given here for XP? Or is XP entirely different?
I am sorry if this is a duplicate, when I tried to send I got an error page.

Much of the material is the same for any of the Win9x, WinME, Win2000, and WinXP. For example, copy and paste is pretty much the same no matter what you are using.

Also when you are advised to use a program such as Ad-aware to look for hidden garbageware on your computer... that is good advice for all computers. Just be sure you download the correct version of the software.

However, some things are very specific to the OS you are using. That is why you will see messages such as: "Tell us what OS you are using." in the help forum. People helping want to make sure the answer is for the correct OS.

So just be sure to mention your OS when asking a question and you should be just fine.

Windows XP and webcam
Guys, i bought new webcam, however, when I tried to install it, the warning poped up saying that hardware and drivers have not beeen checked for suitability with WinXP or something like that, if I install it anyway, that may cause some problems in the future

what can I do? do you think it is ok to go ahead and install it anyway?

thanx much!

the error you are refering to is just telling you that Microsoft have not tested your hardware on the OS. it might be because XP is now is a few years old and your webcam is newer that the OS, so microsoft did not have drivers for this model at the time it was releasing XP. I would go ahead and install it and if it does not work, remove the software and the device from XP, at least you will know if XP can handle it !!!

Lately, almost evertime I download updates from
windows update, I eventually catch a blue warn-
ing screen, forcing me to shut down immediately
or lose data. I think it may be that what I download isn't comaptible with the system. This
is a Dell Dim2400 with winXP on board. I have
had two crashes, and I have had the HDD partitioned and formatted, and all pertinent items re-installed. I'm frustrated and I'm not
to swift with computers anyway. Whats up?
