Norton freezes during Virus scan

During the virus scan for both Norton and MacAfee my computer freezes. Does anyone know of any patch that will remove the virus on my computer ?

As there's tens of thousands of viruses it's tough without a name. Even tougher if we don't know what version of windows you're running.

thanks, if it makes a difference, I ran an online virus scan through Norton and the computer came back clean. I am running Norton 2003 for Windows XP on an HP machine. It was not till I reinstalled Norton that the problem had been created. The reason I reinstalled Norton was because I formatted my computer through HP's disks.

Ok doesn't seem to be a virus, but a norton installation issue. They do have sections on it on their site. This is a link for doing a reinstall:

I'm not that familiar with Norton or Mcaffee,but post back if you're still having problems and some else will drop by.
