I have Spybot, AVG 6.0, & SpywareBlaster on
Windows95.
Now I'm not getting pictures. Instead, I get a
blank with a small box with a red "x".
How to repair?
Thank you.

Try this:
tools
>internet options
>>advanced
>>>multimedia
>>show pictures
should fix things

Thanks JayT,
Thats not working. I hit an "always block"
button in an AVG window. I think thats where
the problem is, but I can't find how to get to where I can undo this.

Here are some other things you can try: (they are not original with me but gotten from several sources):
Anyway there could be several items that can cause this to happen.
1) Corrupt cookies or Temp Internet files. Delete files.
2) Overfull Temp file Cache. Same as above.
3) IE\Tools\Internet Options\Advanced\Show Pictures is not selected
4) Some sort of a Cookie Blocker or Pop-up Stopper program using a proxy server. Go to IE\Tools\Internet Options\Connections\Lan Settings and disable "Use Proxy Server" then uninstall cookie blocker.
5) the show document dll may need to be re-registered. Go to Start\Run and type in regsvr32 /i shdocvw.dll
6) File association content type is incorrect in the registry.
Below is how the content types should read in the root directory for Gif, Jpeg, Jpg and Png:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.gif]
"Content Type"="image/gif"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jpg]
"Content Type"="image/jpeg"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jpeg]
"Content Type"="image/jpeg"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.png]
"Content Type"="image/png"

It sounds to me like it is more like a "SuperTrick" problem.See if you map advertisers domains/IP's to goto 127.0.0.1 in the Windows "hosts." file, no ads (or pictures or pages or anything else), gets downloaded.
If none of the above solutions work, check your (if there is one) hosts. file in (x):\Windows (C:\windows wherever your Windows directory is) see if this is true, Kazza Lite and some other "killers" do this, its a useful trick to block advertisers (doubleclick,advertising.com,ect) banners. The file is a plain text file called HOSTS. (NO extension!![like.txt,.doc,ect... just HOSTS.) Hope it helps!

hm ok scrap that.. I have since rebooted and the problem is now fixed.. it did a configuration update on startup.. so I'm not sure which fixed it.. but something above must have.. either that or a lucky reboot ;)
