The computer has sustained physical shock, cables have been jangled for sure, NIC cards, video cards may have been jostled, keep that in mind, since that involves opening the case, you can leave it for last as you do some other checks first:
1. check the integrity of the hard drive by running SCANDISK , start your pc and tap the F8 key every couple secs until you see a black screen with startup options in white, choose "safe mode" select it with the up and down arrows on your key board and hit enter to launch it. What happens? If you get to safe mode, your in pretty good shape, once there, click on START / RUN / SCANDISK blinking
at the C:\> type the following commands and hit enter after each
scandisk /all/autofix/nosummary
scandisk will now run with a Blue screen, hopefully it will finish successfully, note the space between scandisk /all, that is one skip with your space bar..
after that give the registry a run over..
at the C:\> type- SCANREG /FIX ..and hit enter
will do the same as above and end with "registry fixed"..if successful...
REBOOT AND TRY FOR WINDOWS..
POST BACK ALL ERROR MESSAGES..
From here, you'll probably be opening the case to check for cables, and reseating your video, nic cards..or something else that may be flopping around inside..
