xp update .pc now restarting

after installing xp(home) updates .. it said change from stand alone to master slave.. i have no idea what this means. and now my pc just keeps restaring itself with an error msg popping up when it comes back saying system has recovered from a serious error then says the problem is with a device drive.techincal information c:\windows\minidump\mini 101103-14.dmp. and c:\docume~1\auser~1\locals~1\temp\wer2temp.duroo\sysdata.xml

well a mini dump is saved bits of a crashed program that is sent to microsoft if the user selects send report when prompted. I cant tell which program it refers to except that in temp files and referres to 'duroo'?? tina should know what this isif its a program reinstall it.
Please write the exact message re stand alone to master/slave and post what you have installed lately (software/hardware any updated drivers (unsigned?).

OH heck you said device drive (I assume you mean it said device drivER!!!) Right click 'my computer' click properties and go to the 'hardware' tab, click 'device manager' look for question marks beside anything especially cd roms or drives or display and post back re which ones have this problem

I am having a similar problem...my computer will suddenly restart..and give me this message:
C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini091703-01.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\Eddie\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER9.tmp.dir00\sysdata.xml
It suffers a serious error, etc..no problems checking the device manager...need some help. Eddie

Had this problem for 4 months... Been watching alot of forums looking for answers..so far nothing..
Mine was a brand new p4 system. I even ran the product recovery and started from scratch..
only happens when im online.
I was playing around with the network setup and discovered that if i sent a ping command to a certain ip address i would get the same result. Wonder if this gives anybody any clues??
