Super slow webpages and typing after attack

Hi there. Hopfully somebody will have a solution to my problem because it is driving me nuts!

I recently had VirusScan pick up an attempted attack. I didn't pay attention to where it was from I just blocked it. I don't think it worked completely though. Ever since the attack, some web pages (ebay and yahoo mail mostly) have been extremely slow while scrolling and typing. I ran VirusScan (it's up to date) and Spybot. VirusScan found nothing, Spybot found a few things that I got rid of.

The computer actually seems a bit slower while doing other things too, like the start menu. Applications work fine though and it's not all web pages that are slow.

Mcafee firewall isn't finding any spyware or anything trying to communicate either.

Anybody have any suggestions? I hate to reformat. It takes so long.

Thanks,

Mike

is all your ram reported correctly?
The only thing i can think of is if you have xp role back to a previous restore point if you have 98 start/run and type sfc to run system file checker to find currupt/deleted files.

You may have restored to a point before a recent security patch. In which case your anti virus is now seeing these exploits. check Windows update.
