Well, I have a rather interesting issue. I have recently installed Adaptec DirectCD 5 Platinum, and I receive, seemingly, thousands of "blue screen of death" VXD errors. While I can burn a CD with Easy Creator, directcd has been nothing but pure hell. For instance, I place a brand new cd (different brands don't matter for the result is the same) and DirectCD will inform that the cd needs to be formatted. Hence, I format the cd with Directcd and attempt to write to the cd, and "ACCESS DENIED." Hence, I return to Directcd's GUI and scan the disk, and DirectCD reads that the disk has "unrecognized data" on it. Interesting, this idiotic program is the VERY PROGRAM that formatted the DISK! Not only that, but the CD is not usuable at all! And I am not new to Adaptec's software and I have tried all of the updates but to no avail. If you can help, I would appreciate it. Moreover, I am thoroughly disgusted with adaptec's latest product that I am seeking a more DEPENDABLE burning software for data and wavs. Any suggestions? Thanks. MZ

ok here you go you need to uninstall direct cd 5 platinum reboot .
now on this clean install. Install everything but directcd this can be done by the custom install option in the install start up..after that reboot.
now install Directcd and everything is good too go..

NERO is a good burning software has a good wav.editor and other goodys too many to mention..check it out

yes nero is indeed very good but i am looking for a program that can format a cd in such a way that i can drag and drop files into it.

i got the message " a driver was installed that could cause serious stability to your system" . What do I do? I got this when i installed roxio platinum. I try to burn a cd and i get "No cd Recorders were found" Some one help please.

DirectCD doesn't Support the cd recorder:
HL-DT-ST-CD-RW-GCE-8481b " LG ewrite ",
so I can't format the cdw

I have a same problems on Win2000, i had install new cdrw, and after directcd stop working... after that i had put back my old cdrw and ... nothing :(

Have you gone to the Roxio web site and downloaded the updates for this program? I had a Ricoh MP7200A burner that worked fine in Win2000, but that XP would not recognise.Downloading and running the updates got it running fine in XP.

GCE-8481B CD-RW Drive not recog'd by winME
GCE-8481B CD-RW Drive doesn't get recognized by WinME. I tried several drivers, but none work. COuld anyone please help me out and e-mail me the URL of the right driver download site ? Thanks !
