Conning fast?

i moved in to new place and now have a slower dial up.. i have a modem dial up and log on only at 32-38bp is there a way to ping new providers to check what speed is possible?? or howd can i find a diff provider that is faster?

It could be many things. It could be that your phone lines are old, it could be that the isp you are using has too many users, etc etc. I would try another isp (maybe Juno or Netzero free for so many hours a month) and see if you get better speeds. If you do not, then have your phone lines checked. Donna

you could also search on the web for TCPIP OPTIMIZER and d/load it.. run it after selecting Dial-up from its options, and then reboot, it there is any bottlenecks in your route to your ISP this will fix it, however as donna said it will not effect damaged lines etc.
Also note that internal telephone extensions can also effect the speed of a modem.
